Privacy policy
What we collect, who receives it, how long we keep it, and how to make us delete it.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect personal information you submit through our forms: your name, email address, phone number, year of birth, the condition you are asking about, medications relevant to it, and your postal code or city.
We may also collect technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information and pages viewed.
We do not collect payment information, insurance details, Social Security numbers or medical records. There is nothing to pay for on this site. If you send any of those anyway, we delete them.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to compare your answers against the published criteria of studies currently enrolling, to tell you which research site to contact when there is a plausible match, to tell you when there is not, to respond to your enquiries, and to maintain site security.
Where you consent to SMS communications, we use your number for those messages until you opt out. We do not use your information for advertising.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We mean that without qualification, including under the broader definitions of "sale" and "sharing" used by California and other state privacy laws.
We do not send your information to research sites or study sponsors. When a study fits, we tell you how to contact the site, and what you share with it is your choice. We share information only with the service providers who host this site and deliver our email and text messages, each acting only on our instructions, and where a valid legal process requires it.
If Ridgeline is sold or merged, records would transfer to the buyer under this policy as it stands at that date, and we would tell you first.
Information gathered in the SMS program will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use only the cookies required to make the site work and to understand traffic in aggregate. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect how the site functions.
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not run third-party trackers that follow you to other sites.
5. Data Security
Information is transmitted over an encrypted connection and held on access-controlled systems. Only the coordinators handling applications can read intake records.
No method of transmission over the internet is entirely secure. If a breach affects your information we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
We keep intake records for two years after you apply. If nothing matched and you asked us not to hold your details, we delete them within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time, and we confirm in writing once it is done.
You can stop text messages by replying STOP to any message, or by asking us to do it at our end.
Depending on where you live you may have further rights, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We apply the choices above to everyone regardless of where they live. This site is not for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information about children.
Ridgeline is not a healthcare provider, health plan or clearinghouse, so we are not a covered entity under HIPAA. A research site you contact generally is, and its own notice applies to what you give it.
